Is the fact that the world appears to contain entities of a certain type, a reason to include entities of that type in our ontology? According to a Moorean about metaphysics, the answer is “yes”. According to most scientifically-informed philosophers, the answer is “no”. I side with the Moorean. A certain version of Mooreanism plays an important role in standard scientific practice. As a result, I argue, we ought to adopt this version of Mooreanism about metaphysics as well.
