Philosopher’s Holiday with Brett Sherman - JAMIE GREENBERG MEMORIAL LECTURE

Date: February 10, 2016

Time: 5pm

Location: Taylor 203

Title of Lecture: “A Defense of Modal Dualism”

Description: We talk about what is possible relative to our abilities, the law, our knowledge, and our goals. Many philosophers concerned with the nature of modal facts have aimed to bring order to this multitude of modal kinds by subsuming them under a single fundamental kind of possibility. Against this, I propose a conception of modality centering on a connection between possibilities and open questions, according to which there are two fundamentally different kinds of possibility. -Professor Sherman
