Title: Self-Ignorance and Intellectual Character

Series Title: Philosopher’s Holiday Lecture Series.  JAMIE GREENBERG MEMORIAL LECTURE.  

Description of Lecture: What is the role of intellectual vices such as closed-mindedness and gullibility in the formation of our beliefs?  Ignorance of the influence of such intellectual character traits is a pervasive form of self-ignorance that threatens Kantian accounts of mental unity. 

Bio: Quassim Cassam is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Warwick, UK, and most recently the author of Self-Knowledge for Humans (Oxford University Press 2014).
