Jennifer Church received her B.A. from Macalester College and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She did graduate work at Oxford University and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago. She has written about a wide range of topics in the philosophy of mind: consciousness, irrationality, the emotions, perception, and the imagination. See a representative list of publications. Her book Possibilities of Perception (Oxford University Press, 2013) emphasizes the role of the imagination in various sorts of perception, including rational perception and moral perception. Her book Why It's OK to Be of Two Minds (Routledge, 2020) explains and defends five important types of double consciousness.
