Jennifer Church received her B.A. from Macalester College and her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She did graduate work at Oxford University and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago. She has written about a wide range of topics in the philosophy of mind: consciousness, irrationality, the emotions, perception, and the imagination. Her book Possibilities of Perception (Oxford University Press, 2013) emphasizes the role of the imagination in various sorts of perception, including rational perception and moral perception. Her next book is entitled Double Consciousness in Everyday Life.
