Bryan W. Van Norden received his B.A. in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania (1985) and his Ph.D. in philosophy from Stanford University (1991). Among the books that he has edited and contributed to are The Ways of Confucianism, Readings in Classical Chinese Philosophy and Confucius and the Analects: New Essays. Professor Van Norden regularly offers courses on early Chinese philosophy, Neo-Confucianism, and a variety of topics in Western philosophy. He also teaches traditional Chinese literature and Classical Chinese for the Asian Studies Program and the Department of Chinese and Japanese.
